What are the differences between low-voltage LED light strips and high-voltage light strips?

The common lamps on the market come with high-voltage LED light strips and low-voltage LED light strips. The high-voltage LED light strip is also known as AC light strip, and the low-voltage LED light strip is also known as DC light strip. So what are the differences between these two types of LED flexible lights, and how should we choose the advantages and disadvantages between them?

1、 Security:

The high-voltage LED light strip operates at a voltage of 220V, which is a dangerous voltage and poses a safety hazard in some risky applications; Low voltage LED light strips operate at a working voltage of 12V DC, which is a safe voltage and can be applied in various occasions without any danger to human health.

2、 Packaging:

The packaging of high-voltage LED light strips and low-voltage LED light strips also differ greatly, and high-voltage LED flexible light strips can generally reach 50-100 meters per roll; Low voltage LED light strips generally reach a maximum of 5-10 meters per roll; The attenuation of DC power supply exceeding 10 meters will be severe.

3、 Installation:

The installation of high-voltage LED light strips is relatively simple, and can be directly driven by high-voltage drivers. Generally, factories can configure them directly, and they can work normally by connecting to a 220V power supply. The installation of low-voltage LED flexible light strips requires the installation of a DC power supply in front of the light strip, which is relatively complex during installation.

4、 Service life:

The technical service life of low-voltage LED light strips will be 50000-100100 hours, while actual use can also reach 30000-50010 hours. Due to the high voltage, high-voltage LED light strips generate much more heat per unit length than low-voltage LED light strips, directly affecting the lifespan of high-voltage LED light strips. Generally, the lifespan of high-voltage LED light strips is around 10000 hours.

5、 Price:

If we only look at the two types of LED light strips, the price of LED light strips is similar, but when we measure the overall cost, it is different because high-voltage LED light strips are equipped with high-voltage power supplies. Generally, one power supply can carry 30-50 meters of LED flexible light strips, and the cost of high-voltage voltage is relatively low. And low-voltage LED light strips need to be equipped with an external DC power supply. Generally, the power of a 1 meter 60 bead 5050 light strip is approximately 11-14W, which means that each meter of light strip needs to be equipped with a DC power supply of about 15W. This will greatly increase the cost of low-voltage LED light strips, greatly exceeding that of high-voltage LED light strips. Therefore, from the overall cost perspective, the price of low-voltage LED lights is higher than that of high-voltage LED lights.
